D-1500+

The D-1500+ is the latest evolution of our dual-spindle REELEX coiling machine suitable for both online and offline high-speed coiling. Equipped with automatic cut-and-transfer between spindles, the D-1500+ can run continuously up to 1,500 fpm (450mpm).

Why the D-1500+?

You sequentially print.

The D-1500 is ideally suited for operations in which length marks are sequentially printed at the REELEX machine.

Pre-printing lengths on your supply reel or printing at the extruder? Because the D-1500 automatically cuts and transfers, the D-1500 is not well suited for situations where the lengths (0-1000 for instance) are preprinted before being loaded on the supply reel. The D-1500 is not designed to allow for manual cuts, and thus printing should take place at the REELEX machine.

For manufacturers pre-printing lengths, we suggest the D-750 so that the operator can visually look for the point at which to cut.

You package online.

The D-1500 is ideally set up for online (or “inline”) packaging at the end of an extrusion line. In this configuration, the D-1500 is usually paired with an accumulator, which stores the incoming product during transfer between spindles.

If sequential printing, the print head is located as close as possible to the REELEX machine. The D-1500 can receive signals from any industry standard printer, see a signal via UV mark, or simply cut and transfer at a chosen coil length.

You need speed.

With a transfer time of less than 5 seconds, the D-1500 can operate at high speed nearly continuously. This means the D-1500 can often outrun the operator’s ability to remove and package the completed coils – leading many manufacturers to have multiple operators per machine.

High-Speed Transfer

Cut and transfer in under 5 seconds.

The D-1500 is equipped with a mandrel transfer system which allows for continuous winding.

When one coil is finished, the product is automatically cut, and brought over to the second mandrel. This capability allows the D-1500 to operate online with an extruder at up to 1,500 feet per minute (450mpm).

High-Performance Buffer

The key to creating precise REELEX coils is controlling the tension as the product is wound. Every REELEX machine includes a specially designed extremely lightweight ring-sheave buffer system to maintain even tension and create a precise wind.

All machines come standard with 15″ sheaves for high performance products such as Category 6, 6A and Fiber Optics.

Updated Electronics

More simplicity, less footprint.

Starting in 1Q19, all new D-1500s feature the latest G3 control system. Whereas G2 controls were PC-based, the new G3 controls are built from the ground-up using a single Printed Circuit Board (PCB) designed by REELEX for REELEX. This “winding module” control system greatly simplifies the control system, and eliminates the need for multiple circuit boards without sacrificing any features or operational abilities.

Two-Stage Tension Control

Handle gently.

When used in combination with REELEX’s latest control systems, REELEX’s UDA dancers feature HMI-programmable tension control via digital air regulator and high-flow cylinder. This means each product can have their ideal tension control map, helping to mitigate the effects of physical pressure placed on the cable at the crossover point. What does that mean? That means high performance data cables stay high performance, with less physical deformities.
