Coil Removal Assistance
Coil Removal Device (CRD)
The Coil Removal Device (CRD) is a hand-maneuvered trolley designed to allow the operator to easily remove heavy coils from the REELEX machine and place them into a waiting box. The CRD reduces operator strain by eliminating the physical burden of bringing the coil from the REELEX machine to the box and manipulating it for coil insertion.
The device features multi-directional wheels and can easily be maneuvered on the factory floor. The spring-loaded arms cradle the REELEX coil on from the REELEX machine until packaging and swing out of the way when pushing the coil into the box. Rollers on the arms allow the operator to manipulate the coil easily and position it properly for insertion into the box. Access to the inside of the coil is easily available for the operator to insert the payout tube and thread the cable.

Adjustable Wire Guide
Old Wire Guide
New Adjustable Wire Guide
The Wire Guide assembly is a set of rollers mounted to the exit end of the traverse guide tube. The guide’s purpose is to precisely deliver the product to the mandrel in a controlled manner in order to ensure the REELEX® coil is well-formed.
As the last point of contact the product makes with the machine, the Wire Guide must precisely control the product, yet do so without causing product deformation or damage.
The new adjustable precision wire guide gently guides the product without deformation, improving coil precision and reducing stress on the cable.
Wire Guide Features
Bend-Free Wire Clamp
Bladder Clamp
Air bladder clamp gently and evenly squeezes the cable when the machine is stopped.
Improves handling of high-performance twisted-pair cables by eliminating unnecessary bends.
Alternate Mandrel/Endform Sets
Alternate Mandrel Sets
The REELEX coil is wound on a mandrel. The diameter of the mandrel defines the inside diameter of the REELEX coil. As the coil is wound, the endforms determine the shape of the coil. Because the endforms use specific curves matched to the endform, mandrels and endforms come as sets.
The available standard sets are as follows:
Mandrel Diameter (inches) | Endform Diameter (inches) |
---|---|
6 | 12 |
6 | 18 |
8 | 18 |
10 | 19 |
10 | 21 |
What Size Mandrel Do I Use?
The mandrel size should be selected based on the size of the product and its flexibility. Generally, the mandrel diameter should equal more than twice the comfortable bending radius of the product.
Self-Centering Endform
Self-Centering Endform Bearing
The outer endform is a high duty cycle component on all non-automated REELEX machines. The removal and replacement of the outer endform after the completion of every coil means that the bearing undergoes repeated stress, leading to wear. This wear ultimately causes the bearing to seize, which can limit endform rotation and cause coil formation issues.
The self-centering endform bearing ensures that the endform aligns with the shaft, eliminating wear on the bearing. If the old-style outer endform bearing is worn, additional damage to the endform or mandrel segments can occur.
The self-centering endform bearing is backwards-compatible with existing REELEX machines.
Accessory / Printer Stand
Accessory Stand with Mounting for Print Heads and More
The REELEX-designed accessory stand is uniquely designed to provide a mounting point for various accessories at the output of a REELEX dancer. This conveniently provides a mounting point for printer heads, spark testers, length counters and more.
This stand includes steps and guide rails making access to accessories such as print heads, length counters, spark testers and more easy and safe. In addition, these steps provide an ideal platform for an operator to easily reach the upper sheaves of the REELEX dancer, allowing for fast and easy string up.
