UDA Dancer

The UDA is a universally configurable combination dancer and accumulator system which precisely controls overall line tension and accumulates product when the line is changing speed or when stopped.

The key to precise tension control.

A dancer system is required equipment on any REELEX packaging line, as even tension control is essential to producing quality REELEX coils. The dancer’s purpose is to control the speed of the incoming product by sending signals to the motorized payoff or accumulator. By being the intermediary between input and output, REELEX’s UDA controls overall line tension, while also serving as an accumulator to temporarily store product and smooth out the sudden stops and starts of the REELEX coiling machine.

Universal Dancer Accumulator (UDA) Overview

Features

Updated Components

Working together.

The UDA utilizes the latest in tension control components, including a laser potentiometer for zero-tune positioning, a digital air regulator. that is controlled via REELEX HMI and a self-lubricating cylinder which improves reliability and disassociates the lubrication function from the air supply. The components work together with the proven high-performance sheaves to offer exceptional response with delicate product handling.

Two-Stage Tension Control

Handle gently.

When used in combination with REELEX’s latest control systems, REELEX’s UDA dancers feature HMI-programmable tension control via digital air regulator and high-flow cylinder. This means each product can have their ideal tension control map, helping to mitigate the effects of physical pressure placed on the cable at the crossover point. What does that mean? That means high performance data cables stay high performance, with less physical deformities.

Reconfigurable

Truly universal.

Unlike previous dancer systems, the new Universal Dancer Accumulator (UDA), is a modular unit which can be customized depending on demands for input/output heights, direction, motors, counters and more. The UDA may also be reconfigured in the field, allowing the unit to accommodate variations in line direction, or changes in products or packaging.

The UDA is included as part of the Accumulator system, if packaging online.

Performance

The UDA is used in both offline (rewind from supply reel) and online (input from constant-speed source such as extruder). In online configurations, the UDA is included as part of the AC-300 or AC-500 accumulator system. The standard UDA comes as a base model with 9-inch sheaves, no counter, and no motor. The 9-inch (229mm) sheaves are suitable for heavier constructions such as coaxial cable, while a 15-inch (381mm) sheave upgrade is standard for category cable and fiber optics. The 15-inch sheaves are engineered by REELEX Packaging Solutions especially for REELEX coiling, as their lightweight design drastically reduces the amount of rotational inertia in the line.
