D-750+
The D-750+ is the latest evolution of a single-spindle REELEX coiling machine in production for nearly 20 years. Ideal for packaging from a supply reel or other offline source, the D-750 uses a single operator to cut and package.
Single-spindle offline REELEX packaging since 1999.
With nearly 100 currently in service and in production for nearly two decades, the D-750 has become the standard coiling machine for small to mid-size structured cabling manufacturers around the globe.
D-750+ Overview
All “+” Models Include:
Features
HMI Touchscreen Controls
Calculate, save, diagnose, control.
The next-generation HMI control system is standard on all REELEX machines and revolutionizes how REELEX equipment is used.
The high-definition 12-inch touchscreen blends off-the-shelf hardware with unique custom software allowing the integration of equipment control with troubleshooting, on-screen manual, packaging calculator, multi-language support, product storage, networking capability and much more.
High-Performance Buffer
The key to creating precise REELEX coils is controlling the tension as the product is wound. Every REELEX machine includes a specially designed extremely lightweight ring-sheave buffer system to maintain even tension and create a precise wind.
All machines come standard with 15″ sheaves for high performance products such as Category 6, 6A and Fiber Optics.
EC Compliant Safety Guarding Standard
Included on all + Models.
Starting in 2020 with the new D-750+ and D-1500+ models, REELEX now includes standard enhanced safety guarding including automatic door actuation.
For machines where physical guarding is too restrictive or otherwise prohibitive, a proximity safety sensor is installed to immediately stop the machine if a human gets too close while running.
Two-Stage Tension Control
Handle gently.
When used in combination with REELEX’s latest control systems, REELEX’s UDA dancers feature HMI-programmable tension control via digital air regulator and high-flow cylinder. This means each product can have their ideal tension control map, helping to mitigate the effects of physical pressure placed on the cable at the crossover point. What does that mean? That means high performance data cables stay high performance, with less physical deformities.
Updated Electronics
More reliability, more simplicity.
Starting in late 2017, all new D-750s feature the latest G3 control system. Whereas G2 controls were PC-based, the new G3 controls are built from the ground-up using a single Printed Circuit Board (PCB) designed by REELEX for REELEX. This “winding module” control system greatly simplifies the control system, and eliminates the need for multiple circuit boards without sacrificing any features or operational abilities.
Options
Stretch Wrap Module
Most REELEX machines can be ordered with an automated stretch wrap module which blows plastic stretch wrap film, adds tension and automatically cuts the film. This produces a finished coil that is fully wrapped and is easily handled.
The stretch wrap module is particularly useful for securing stiff, springy or flimsy products that easily can lose coil integrity during handling. Stretch wrap is also useful for securing coils so that they may be packaged at a later stage, or simply to create an extremely low-cost package.
Multiple Mandrel Sizes
Because the inside diameter of the REELEX coil is determined by the mandrel size, the size and characteristics of a product need to be matched to the correct mandrel and endforms so that payout performance is ideal.
Larger, stiffer products are typically wound on a 10-inch (25.4cm) mandrel, while smaller products use either 4-inch (10.1cm) or 6-inch (15.2cm) mandrel sets. Typical mandrel sizes come in 2-inch increments, from 4-inches to 10-inches diameter. 8-inch (20.3cm) mandrels are standard on all REELEX equipment.
Performance
In unison with a REELEX-built motorized payoff and buffer/dancer, a S320 line will run up to 750 feet (228m) per minute. At this rate, the D-750 will produce up to 40 coils (1,000 ft (305m) length) in an hour depending on operator skill.

Unfortunately, no. G3 upgrades are no longer available for G1 machines.
The safety standards at the time “G1” equipment was built are incompatible with our current policies. G1 equipment cannot easily be modified or upgraded to meet REELEX’s safety standards without expense nearing that of a new machine, and thus we have made the decision to no longer offer the G3 upgrade.
G3 upgrades for D-1000s and D-1500s are not supported at this time.
Yes! All REELEX machines are capable of adjusting coil parameters. REELEX II simply requires a larger hole size input. To make a REELEX II coil, increase the hole size setting until the REELEX II tube fits easily.
For more information on coil and package types, please see here.
Yes! All REELEX equipment accept signals from most brands of printers. Upon length reset, the printer will send a signal to the REELEX machine to stop (in the case of the D-750) or cut and transfer (in the case of the D-1500 and D-2050). More information can be found in your machine manual.
Generally, no. The D-1500 is build for online applications and thus is recommended for most scenarios. This is because the D-750 must come to a complete stop for about 25 or 30 seconds at the end of each coil while the operator removes the full coil and starts the new coil.
However, if your extrusion line operates at a relatively slow speed (below 120 meters-per-minute or 400 feet-per-minute), the D-750 may be used. If so desired, an accumulator with enough capacity to accumulate the cable coming from the extruder during the coil removal process would be required.
Yes, however you will likely be unable to achieve maximum performance from your REELEX machine. This is because underpowered payoffs spend more time accelerating or decelerating then running at full speed. To achieve the specified rate of production from your REELEX machine, you must utilize a payoff that is capable of rapidly accelerating and decelerating a supply reel and keep it under control.
If you plan to use a non-REELEX payoff with REELEX coiling machines, the payoff must:
- Have a four-quandrant regenerative DC drive.
- Accept inputs from a 1K to 5K Ohm potentiometer signal from the UDA dancer.
- Be designed for rapid acceleration and deceleration from stop to full speed approximately 30 times per hour.
- Have adequate power to accelerate a full supply reel from stop to full speed in approximately 10 seconds.
