Does REELEX manufacture its own wire or cable?

No, REELEX manufactures machines and provides packaging equipment solutions to cable and wire manufacturers.

REELEX® is a patented method of precision-winding a filamentary product into a figure-eight coil. REELEX machines produce a REELEX coil that is housed in REELEX packaging resulting in twist-free, tangle-free payout.

Our customers are cable, wire and fiber optic manufacturers that use a REELEX machine to wind their product in a REELEX coil that will fit into REELEX packaging. The manufacturer sells the finished, packaged product to end users like contractors, electricians, journeymen, etc., who install cable and wire.

The REELEX system is a patented technology. Authorized use of these patents, associated trademarks, and know-how is administered through the signing of a License Agreement.​ This contract gives the Licensee full access to REELEX’s portfolio of patents and all trademarks associated with the REELEX system, while also entitling the Licensee to unique advantages and benefits guaranteed to them as long as the REELEX system is being utilized.

Packaging FAQs

What kind of packaging materials does REELEX offer?

The REELEX coil can fit into a variety of containers but it is typically packaged in a cardboard box. Boxes are inherently excellent package options as they are customizable, stack easily, and can be stored flat to save space. Cardboard is also more affordable and sustainable. REELEX also offers shrink wrap, PROFLEX™, reusable cases and alternative custom packaging.

No, we provide a design service and prototyping capabilities to help our customers design the best package. Our customers then typically work with a local supplier for supply of boxes.

The tube prevents kinks and results in a smooth payout. We offer several design options for tubes. Some products do not require a tube.

The REELEX logo needs to be featured on the front of the box, as detailed in the license agreement.

Yes, the Co-Creation Lab is where we’ll work with licensees to create packaging that fits their needs. This service is free to licensees.

Machine FAQs

How long is my machine under warranty?

During the period of one year from the date of delivery of any Machine purchased or leased by LICENSEE pursuant to the LICENSE AGREEMENT, REELEX shall service such machine and repair or replace any machine part of the machine that becomes defective or faulty as a result of REELEX’s fault, free of charge for parts and labor, unless such defect or fault shall be due to LICENSEE’s negligence.

After the expiration of one year from the date of delivery of any REELEX Machine purchased or leased by LICENSEE pursuant to this AGREEMENT, REELEX shall continue to provide servicing of the machines as LICENSEE may request, but LICENSEE shall pay REELEX’ servicing expenses for such machines, including labor, travel, and overhead, and shall pay for any required machine parts required to service such machines.

LICENSEE will permit REELEX, at REELEX’s expense, to make service inspections of REELEX Machines at mutually convenient times, upon advance request by REELEX.

Issues with REELEX equipment should first be reviewed with REELEX technicians over phone or email before a service call is deemed necessary. Many issues can be resolved without a visit. All verbal or electronic advice, consultation or other assistance given over phone or email is always free of charge.

Yes, however you will likely be unable to achieve maximum performance from your REELEX machine.

Service & Support FAQs

Who arranges shipping when the machine is ready?

REELEX will contact you when the machine is ready for shipping. The customer is responsible for making shipping arrangements to pick up the equipment.

Prior to equipment arrival, the customer should have power and air supplies available. Cables, boxes and tube to test run.

Schedules for key people and engineers. Make sure they’re working to be trained.

When the equipment arrives, unpack and place the machine on the floor according to the line layout drawing. Please have all additional components (printer, sparker, etc.) ready for installation when setting up the REELEX line.

The customer is responsible for unpacking, moving or bolting the equipment to the floor prior to the REELEX technician’s arrival. Do not power on.*

Yes, technician’s time used in commissioning a REELEX machine is complimentary, including time spent powering, testing ad training.

The customer only pays for travel expenses for the traveling technician.

Applying power will void the warranty and could damage machine electronics.

Yes! REELEX machines have an extensive onboard troubleshooting system that can identify many common problems. In addition, service assistance from REELEX by phone or email is always available and always free.

If additional time is required to train personnel, technician time will be billed at standard rates.

All REELEX machines require 3-phase power.

For our 230V machines, a transformer may be required and is an optional add-on

For our 480V machines, no transformer required as long as a 380-480V supply is available
